
NBC’s Today show is continuing to dominate the morning television race, pulling comfortably ahead of both of its biggest rivals as fresh ratings data reveals a widening gap across the network landscape.

According to a recent report from Variety, the long-running NBC program delivered another strong performance, outperforming competitors at both ABC and CBS during the latest ratings period.
The results are particularly notable given that ABC was expected to receive a significant boost from airing the NBA Finals, one of television’s biggest annual sporting events.
Last week’s championship series between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs attracted enormous audiences, averaging approximately 20.6 million viewers across ABC and ESPN. Nielsen data indicates that the matchup became the most-watched NBA Finals series in nearly three decades.
Despite the basketball ratings surge, Good Morning America was still unable to overtake NBC’s flagship morning program.
For the week ending June 12, Today secured first place with an average audience of 3.06 million viewers. The show, led by Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin and Al Roker, remained firmly on top of the morning rankings.
ABC’s Good Morning America, hosted by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan, followed behind with an average of 2.87 million viewers.
Meanwhile, CBS Mornings continued to trail its competitors, drawing approximately 1.65 million viewers during the same period.
NBC also achieved another major victory in the advertising market, where audience demographics play a critical role.
The network attracted 682,000 viewers in the highly sought-after 25-to-54 age bracket, a category considered especially valuable to advertisers.
That figure comfortably exceeded Good Morning America’s 486,000 viewers in the same demographic and more than doubled CBS Mornings’ total of 264,000.
Industry observers have noted that the latest figures add to a difficult stretch for CBS’s morning program.
According to Nielsen, CBS Mornings, featuring Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson, recently recorded one of its lowest total audience figures in recent years.
The latest downturn also extends a remarkable streak for NBC.
Data shows that Today has now outperformed CBS Mornings by more than one million viewers for 26 consecutive weeks, underlining the show’s continued strength in an increasingly competitive morning television landscape.
While all three networks remain major players in the genre, the newest ratings suggest NBC’s Today continues to hold a commanding advantage, even during weeks when rival networks benefit from some of television’s biggest live events.
