Tess Daly and Vernon Kay are reportedly planning a swift and stress-free divorce following their shock split after 22 years of marriage.
The former TV golden couple, who tied the knot in September 2003, confirmed last month that they had grown apart, sharing a heartfelt joint statement promising to maintain “care and respect” for one another.
Now, sources say the pair are looking at hiring online lawyers to handle the divorce without the drama of a costly legal battle.
“Tess doesn’t want to spend thousands on solicitors. A friend suggested a quickie online divorce. They don’t see there’s anything to fight over and know they’ll agree on everything fairly,” a source told The Mirror.
Despite their separation, the couple remain friendly and supportive, often seen together in public. They recently attended Pub in the Park together, and Vernon’s Instagram bio still reads: “Other 1/2 of @tessdaly.”
“They’re mates and want their friendship to stay intact. No point dragging things out and racking up huge legal fees,” the insider added.
Tess and Vernon, who share daughters Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16, continue to live in their six-bedroom Buckinghamshire home while planning their next steps.
A friend explained:
“It wasn’t a sudden decision. They’ve been quietly navigating it for some time. Vernon’s a social butterfly, Tess more of a homebody. They’ve simply grown apart.”
With both stars enjoying successful careers—Vernon on BBC Radio 2 and Tess as former co-host of Strictly Come Dancing and her swimwear brand—their financial settlement is expected to be straightforward, leaving them free to focus on family and future ventures.
“Their focus is solely on Phoebe and Amber,” the source added. “They remain good friends and want what’s best for their children.”
