Coronation Street has revealed a huge fallout for Jodie Ramsey as her dangerous secret is uncovered. Viewers will know that the character recently stole Carl Webster’s gun, and scenes next week will see her trinket box containing the dangerous item discovered.
It comes after the Platts also discover the truth over Jodie attacking Sarah, with tensions rising as David and Shona are finally able to bring baby Harper home.
Opening up about Shona’s reaction to Jodie’s actions against Sarah, star Julia Goulding explained that Shona “is the one who brings her back into the fold because she genuinely believes it was a case of mistaken identity”.
“Shona was panicked about the haulage guys coming after Jodie so she understands that Jodie was hyper-vigilant and likely perceived Sarah as an intruder,” she added. “She’s cross that Jodie lied about it, but she understands the motivation.”
However, Sarah urges David to find Jodie’s trinket box – the reason she was attacked in the first place – though Shona brushes off its importance initially and “sees it as a box of Jodie’s things and can’t really understand the fuss”.
Amid the stress of the baby, Shona also “doesn’t have the bandwidth to be suspicious, and she doesn’t know about Jodie’s history of theft”.
However, Lily stumbles across the box, and after a tense encounter between the Platts and Jodie at Harper’s surprise party, the youngster later corners her aunt about the box, before David gets wind of what Lily found.
Shona is “livid” when she learns about what’s inside, according to Julia, the actor noting: “There are children in the house, after all.
“Jodie has to do a lot of work to convince them it’s not a real gun – and presenting a fake one eventually puts their worries to bed – but it’s a heartbreaking situation, especially given how Lily has been manipulated.”
