The harrowing reality of Betsy Swain’s medical crisis on Coronation Street has left viewers stunned, but behind the scenes, star Sydney Martin is heaping passionate praise on the extraordinary makeup team who brought her character’s stroke symptoms to life!
Makeup artist Alexandra Hargreaves took to Instagram to reveal the meticulous craft involved in sculpting custom, realistic facial prosthetics for Sydney.
The Science Behind the Look 
Alexandra shared that she, alongside team members @gillywalshy and @lozenger92, conducted a full life cast of Sydney’s face to sculpt three bespoke prosthetic pieces:

Eyelid Bondo: Restricted her left eye from fully opening.

Under-Eye Piece: Created subtle, realistic facial sagging.

Lip Corner Piece: Induced a drooping corner of the lip to restrict movement, forcing the left side of her face to visibly overcompensate.
Alexandra praised Sydney as a “truly outstanding talent” who brought the prosthetics to life, to which Sydney passionately replied:
“Forever obsessed with you and everything you do! You just ooze talent and have the biggest heart—I love you!!!”
Sydney also reshared the post on her Instagram Stories, writing: “Take a look at the absolutely incredible work… I
