A SICKENING IDENTITY THEFT AND THE RETURN OF WEATHERFIELD’S MOST TOXIC FATHER!

Coronation Street has confirmed a major character return amid the Shona Platt and Jodie Ramsey storyline. The latter has wormed her way into her sister’s life in recent months, with Shona largely giving Jodie a pass in her deceptive ways.

Scenes next week see Jodie reveal the truth about attacking Sarah Platt, though admits she needs somewhere to stay while she awaits her fate with the police. Things will potentially escalate further, however, when she secretly impersonates her sister on an online forum for mums.

Amid the drama, Shona actor Julia Goulding has confirmed the return of the siblings’ father Doug, whom fans may remember appeared earlier this year.

The star said it had been “fantastic” learning more about her character’s background, adding: “Working with Steve Evets (who plays Doug Ramsey) is a treat. It’s really interesting to explore the Ramsey family dynamic and piece together why Shona and Jodie are the way they are.”

“He is coming back again soon and we will really find out a lot more about their history,” Julia further teased.

The actor also suggested that Shona shouldn’t carry guilt for how she has treated her sister, noting: “Shona was only 13 when she was kicked out of the house.

“She carries guilt for abandoning Jodie, but also for what happened with Clayton. It’s about her deep-seated fear of abandoning young people in her life.”

Julia further argued that it is “important to have layers, light and dark” with her character and that “the drama is crucial to the character’s depth”.

As for what she would like to see in Jodie’s future, the star teased: “A bit of drama and chaos first, we know that is definitely on the cards and then I’d love to see her settle down and learn who she truly is, and hopefully find an honest relationship with Shona.”
