In an exclusive revelation, Alison Hammond has boldly claimed that she is the perfect fit to take over as the host of Strictly Come Dancing, despite not receiving any official word from the BBC. The 51-year-old star believes that the role was made for her and is confident she could easily step into the shoes left vacant by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Alison, who made her mark on Strictly back in 2014, reached an impressive 10th place alongside professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec. But it wasn’t always smooth sailing. Alison revealed that, when she first signed up, she was told she was “too overweight” to participate. But that didn’t stop her. Alison, who has since lost a stunning 11 stone, proved her critics wrong and became a household name.
“I’ll never forget being told, ‘You can’t do Strictly. You’re too overweight. You need to lose weight,’” Alison shared. “But I did it when I weighed 25 stone! And now, I’m ready for the next challenge.”
Following the shock departure of long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman in 2025, there has been much speculation around who will fill their shoes. With names like Zoe Ball, Rylan Clark, and even fellow This Morning star Sian Welby being tossed around, Alison is more confident than ever that she’s the one for the job.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Alison didn’t hold back: “I’ve not heard anything, but let’s be honest, that job is made for me. I’m just waiting for the call!”
Alison’s charm, wit, and undeniable presence have made her a fan favourite, and with her fresh, bubbly approach, she believes she’d be the perfect person to bring Strictly into a new era.
