Alyssa Farah Griffin, co-host of The View, has revealed shocking details of her âsomewhat traumaticâ birth experience. In an emotional recount of her first childâs birth, she opened up about the unexpected complications following her labor and the impact it had on her life.
After a two-month maternity leave, Griffin returned to the Hot Topics table to share her experience, joining The View producer Brian Teta on the showâs podcast, Behind the Table, where she described why she came back to work sooner than expected. âIt was your decision,â Teta remarked, and Griffin confirmed, âYes, it felt perfect to me.â
Griffin then explained the significant emotional weight behind her babyâs name, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr. The name, she revealed, was chosen after the birth took a âvery different turnâ than expected. Initially, she had planned a different name, but the events that unfolded made her change her mind. She had to undergo induction and unexpectedly went into labor early, leading to complications.
âWhen my placenta got stuck, I started to hemorrhage,â Griffin recalled. âI was holding my baby, the most magical moment, but then… reality hit hard.â :max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(731x391:733x393)/The-View-Justin-Griffin-Alyssa-Farah-Griffin-020526-c5028ed8817c4e67a99c29b972c34721.jpg)
During the tense moments that followed, she reflected on the IVF journey she and her husband endured for two years, including the physical and emotional toll it took. âYou see a different side of your spouse when youâre going through that together,â she shared.
Despite the traumatic experience, she credited her husbandâs unwavering support throughout the process, including the IVF journey and the complicated labor. She expressed that choosing the name Justin symbolized her hope that he would grow up to be a kind, decent, and humble manâjust like his father.
In a heart-to-heart conversation with Teta, Griffin also opened up about her difficult IVF journey, something she had shared previously on The View. She had struggled with the process more than she expected, despite being in good health. “I never imagined how hard it would be at my age,” she admitted, adding, “I thought it would be easy, but my body just wasn’t cooperating.”
Griffinâs emotional journey from IVF struggles to the complex birth of her son showcases a deeply personal side of her life, revealing the strength required to navigate such challenges.
