Josh Widdicombe has officially been confirmed as the new host of Strictly Come Dancing, joining Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe in what insiders are calling a bold new era for the BBC dance programme.

The 43-year-old comedian, who first emerged as the shock favourite last week, impressed bosses with his quick wit and deadpan humour. Fans may remember Josh from the 2024 Christmas Special, where he performed dressed as a penguin alongside professional dancer Karen Hauer, who will not be returning for the new series.

Josh becomes the first male host of the show since the legendary Bruce Forsyth, who co-presented with Tess Daly until his retirement in 2013. Taking Brucie’s shoes will be no small feat, but insiders say the comedian’s mix of live TV experience and razor-sharp comedic timing makes him ideal to put contestants at ease while delivering laughs.

Emma Willis, 42, joins the hosting team after emerging as the frontrunner during a cutthroat BBC audition process. Described as a “safe pair of hands” by insiders, Emma impressed during chemistry tests and is expected to steer the show with her signature warmth and charisma.
Meanwhile, South African-born dancer Johannes Radebe, 39, will also feature as part of the hosting line-up. A professional on the show since 2018, sources claim Johannes’ natural rapport with both celebrities and contestants has made him a favourite to transition into presenting this year.
A source told The Sun: “Josh blew the producers away with his deadpan, witty banter. He is family friendly, loves Strictly, and has the perfect skills to lead the show into a new era. He’s not a household name yet, but stepping into Brucie’s shoes will be a stellar move for his career.”
The new trio promises to bring energy, humour, and a fresh dynamic to the beloved show. “Everyone involved in the auditions – including the celebs – are saying the job is going to JoJo,” said a source, hinting at excitement behind the scenes for the revamped presentation team.
The BBC has confirmed: “Plans for Strictly Come Dancing 2026 will be announced in due course.”
