Benedict Cumberbatch had a tense, heated argument with a fellow cyclist on Tuesday after the actor was accused of running a red light in London. The 49-year-old Sherlock star was confronted by another cyclist, who blasted Benedict for allegedly breaking the law.

In a video that has now gone viral, the two men clashed in the middle of the street, with the other cyclist shouting “You’re deluded!” and accusing Benedict of lying. The actor stood his ground, countering with accusations of verbal abuse.

The confrontation, which lasted for 10 minutes, unfolded as Benedict was seen running a red light while riding his £5,200 cargo bike, with the other cyclist chasing him. The encounter quickly escalated when Benedict walked over to confront the man, resulting in a fiery exchange witnessed by several fans.

“I did it once,” Benedict admitted, before the cyclist ramped up the tension, claiming Benedict had run through multiple traffic lights. Despite the confrontation, the actor remained composed, even managing to charm fans after the row ended by taking a selfie with a group of young onlookers.

One witness described the scene as “crazy,” comparing it to a dramatic road rage moment. The cyclist, who was masked, seemed to be a self-proclaimed “vigilante,” confronting Benedict with an intensity that only grew when he realized he was dealing with an A-list actor.
This is not the first time Benedict has been involved in a cycling-related incident. Back in 2019, he reportedly had another run-in with a cyclist after a car accident on the Isle of Wight, in which the cyclist slapped Benedict after being knocked off his bike. Despite the conflict, Benedict showed kindness by offering help to the man.
In this latest confrontation, though, the actor’s calm demeanor after the heated exchange shows a different side to the usually reserved star.
