Beverley Callard Shares Health Update: Leg Cyst Discovered Amid Breast Cancer Radiotherapy Journey

Beverley Callard has opened up to fans with a heartfelt update on her health, revealing she has discovered a cyst in her leg after experiencing persistent pain. The beloved Coronation Street star, 69, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, shared the news in a candid Instagram video on Thursday.

“Okay, just got back from the first hospital,” Beverley told her followers. “Good news is, it’s definitely not a blood clot. They did an ultrasound, every test under the sun, and apparently it’s a cyst. Quite common, they said. It’s at the back of my knee. I had this pain for a while and didn’t think much of it, but it kept going, so I decided to get it checked. I panicked a little yesterday, but I’m okay.”

Despite this new development, Beverley is pressing ahead with her breast cancer treatment. She revealed she is about to begin her radiotherapy plan: “In five minutes, I set off to meet the radiotherapist for the first time.” Returning from the hospital, she explained: “I’ll be having 10 days of radiotherapy—five days in a row, a weekend off, then five more days. They’ll send me an appointment for a body scan and mapping first, and then let me know when it begins. That’s all I know for now.”

Beverley confirmed she is still able to work while waiting for her treatment to start, showing her determination and resilience during this challenging time. Last month, she admitted medics were concerned she should have started radiotherapy earlier, but delays occurred after moving from England to Ireland, as her medical records took time to transfer.

Returning from the hospital she said: 'Well, I'm back home now after my visit to St. Luke's to see the radiotherapist. He just said that I'll be having 10 days of radiotherapy, five consecutive days, then a weekend off, then five more days'

The actress, widely adored for her role as Liz McDonald, first revealed her diagnosis publicly on Ireland’s RTE Late Late Show earlier this year. She also shared that she underwent lymph node removal as a precautionary measure to prevent the cancer from spreading.

Reflecting on her hospital visit, Beverley told fans: “They seemed very nice, obviously new to me. They’re a little concerned I should’ve started radiotherapy sooner, but the records finally arrived, and we’re moving forward. I’ll be back to see more doctors on Thursday, and then the treatment will begin soon. I’ll keep you updated.”

Captioning her post, Beverley added: “A trip to the breast clinic today… it went okay, not quite what I wanted to hear, but a step forward nonetheless. Hoping to get started as soon as possible!”

Even amidst the challenges of a cancer diagnosis and a newly discovered cyst, Beverley’s courage and openness continue to inspire her fans worldwide. 💖
