BBC Radio 2 legend Bob Harris has shared an emotional update with fans as he faces another health challenge. The iconic broadcaster, who has been battling prostate cancer since 2007, revealed that he’s back in the hospital and will be taking a break from his beloved shows to focus on his treatment.
At 79, Bob remains as determined as ever. Sharing a photo from his hospital bed, he explained: “As many of you know, I suffer from prostate cancer, and every now and again I experience setbacks that need attention. Now is one of these moments.” Despite the setback, Bob expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support of his fans, friends, and family, and assured everyone that he’ll be back stronger than ever.
The radio star also reassured fans that his popular Country Show is already prepared, and his special Sounds of the 70’s 80th birthday episode, which he recorded before his treatment, will air on April 12th. As Bob takes some time off, his colleagues like Darius Rucker and Shaun Keaveny will step in to cover his shows.
“I hate missing programmes, and I’m eager to get back to the studio,” Bob said. “I know I will come back stronger.”
