Sammi Kinghorn, the talented Paralympian and Countryfile presenter, has shared the exciting news that she is expecting her first child with her husband, Callum Aitken. The 30-year-old wheelchair racer, who made history as a double Paralympic medalist, revealed the heartwarming news in a touching Instagram video posted on Monday.

In the adorable clip, Sammi and Callum, who tied the knot in January 2025, embrace as Sammi drapes a pair of knitted baby socks and a sonogram over Callum’s shoulders. Callum then dons a ‘Dad’ cap before Sammi appears behind him wearing her own ‘Mum’ hat. The couple shared a passionate kiss, marking this beautiful moment in their lives.

Sammi, who also stars on BBC’s Countryfile, captioned the video, “Half of me and half of you! We can’t wait to meet you in July.” The following day, she proudly showed off her baby bump for the first time in a mirror selfie, joking, “Rocking the Winnie the Pooh look in my training kit.”
This joyful announcement comes after Sammi’s inspiring journey overcoming a life-changing accident. In 2010, at just 14 years old, Sammi was paralyzed from the waist down after being crushed by a forklift while helping clear snow on her family’s farm. Despite this heartbreaking tragedy, she went on to become a world champion wheelchair racer and Paralympic medalist, even earning an MBE for her contributions to disability sports.
Now, as she looks forward to motherhood, Sammi has reflected on her incredible journey from that tragic day to becoming a symbol of strength and determination in the sports world. Her triumphs include setting a 100m world record and winning multiple medals at the World Championships and Paralympics.
Sammi and Callum are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their bundle of joy in July, and fans are already celebrating with them. The couple’s happiness is palpable as they prepare for this exciting new chapter in their lives.
