Through Mom’s Eyes officially launched on April 14. The book, a collection of stories and lessons from the mothers of prominent figures including Lady Gaga, Stephen Curry, the Williams sisters, and Matthew McConaughey, was initially conceived in 2020 but delayed due to the tragic passing of Sheinelle’s husband, Uche Ojeh, from aggressive brain cancer in May 2025.

Sheinelle shared her journey with the book on the Today Show: “I started this thinking it would be a simple guide to what some of these women did right or wrong… but it turned out to be so much more. These women empowered me in ways I didn’t know I needed. I hope it touches readers who are moms, aunts, grandmothers, teachers, coaches—anyone working with children.”

Uche and Sheinelle were married for 18 years and share three children: son Kayin, and fraternal twins Clara and Uche. The couple first met at Northwestern University, where Uche studied computer science and later became a managing partner at UAO Consulting.

To celebrate the book’s release, Sheinelle was surprised on air by her children during the Fourth Hour segment of Today. The moment highlighted both the personal and professional significance of the launch, as Craig Melvin’s supportive message reinforced the deep bonds among the hosts.

Craig’s public praise underscores the mutual respect and camaraderie on the Today Show, while also drawing attention to Sheinelle’s inspiring and heartfelt work. The book is poised to make an impact with its genuine insights and the emotional journey behind its creation.
