In an emotional and moving Instagram post, Craig Melvin, Today Show co-host and close friend of Sheinelle Jones, expressed his heartfelt pride and support as Sheinelle celebrated the release of her debut book, Through Mom’s Eyes. Craig’s tribute was full of admiration, as he praised Sheinelle’s unwavering dedication and the wisdom she poured into the pages of her book, which dropped on April 14.
Alongside a touching photo of himself reading Sheinelle’s new book, Craig wrote, “I could not be more proud of her. She’s written a beautiful new chapter, and watching her pour her heart, wisdom, and light into these pages has been so special. She’s truly like a big sister to me, and I know this book is going to bless so many people, just like she blesses everyone around her. Please go support her and grab a copy. You’re going to love it.”

Through Mom’s Eyes is a deeply personal and inspiring collection of stories and lessons learned from the mothers of some of the world’s most influential figures, including Lady Gaga, Stephen Curry, the Williams sisters, and Matthew McConaughey. The book, which had been conceived back in 2020, faced delays as Sheinelle navigated the devastating battle her late husband, Uche Ojeh, fought against glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Uche tragically passed away in May 2025 after 18 years of marriage and three children with Sheinelle.
Reflecting on her journey with the book, Sheinelle shared, “I started this book thinking it would be a simple guide to what these women did right, and what they did wrong… and it is, but it turned out to be so much more. These women empowered me in ways that I didn’t even know I needed. I hope when women read it, whether they’re a mom, aunt, grandmother, teacher, or coach, they’ll be moved by the wisdom shared.”
In an emotional surprise on the same day, Sheinelle’s children joined her live on the Fourth Hour of the Today Show, bringing even more warmth to the occasion as they celebrated their mother’s incredible accomplishment.
