Despite her declining health, Esther is finding joy in the simplest of things — from watching quiz and antique shows to listening to Radio 4 during sleepless nights in her peaceful cottage in the New Forest.

Her journey has also turned her into an unexpected advocate for the assisted dying bill, after revealing she had joined the Swiss clinic Dignitas to ensure she could leave life with dignity if the pain became unbearable. “I never thought I’d be part of a new campaign,” she admitted, “but it found me.”
