Ruth Langsford Opens Up: “I Found My Light” Two Years After Splitting from Eamonn Holmes

Two years after her high-profile split from Eamonn Holmes, Ruth Langsford is finally speaking candidly about life on her own — and the journey to rediscover herself.

Ruth, who met Eamonn in the 1990s and married him in 2006, called time on their 18-year marriage in 2024. Since then, Eamonn has moved on with girlfriend Katie Alexander, 23 years his junior. But Ruth has been quietly rebuilding her life, one step at a time.

In a heartfelt chat with The Mirror, Ruth revealed how independence and self-care became her guiding lights. “I’ve always been a very independent woman, that hasn’t really changed. But this is where I found myself. I just have to get on with my life, make my own happiness, keep my career going, and look out for my son — that’s what I’m doing,” she said.

She added: “Life changes from one second to the next, one day to the next — nobody knows what’s going to happen. But here I am, and I’m doing all right. Time really is a great healer.”That really got me': This Morning viewers in tears as Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford present final show from The London Studios | London Evening Standard | The Standard

Reflecting on earlier struggles, Ruth recalled telling Woman & Home in November that she had seen moments of darkness after the split. Quoting Gloria Gaynor, she said: “Do you crumble? Do you lay down and die? Oh no, not I. I will survive.”

Ruth’s message today is one of resilience. “You put your best foot forward, dust yourself off, and on you go. I’m grateful for the good things in my life — my work, my friends, my wonderful son, and my gorgeous little doggy. I just get on with my life and find my happiness.”

Eamonn Holmes reveals how he treated wife Ruth Langsford on her birthdayHer new book, Feeling Fabulous, also reveals a key step in her healing journey: therapy. Ruth admitted that seeing a therapist after her marriage breakdown “absolutely was the best thing for me.” Following her therapist’s advice to “just find your light,” Ruth said with a smile: “And I did. I feel like I’ve come through the worst of it now.”

Ruth Langsford’s story is a reminder that even after heartbreak, it’s possible to rediscover joy, confidence, and light in life. ✨
