FANCY A FLIRT? Kate Garraway Reveals She’d Jump at Love Island – and Would Encourage Daughter Darcey to Join Too

Kate Garraway, 59, has left fans smiling with her latest confession – the Good Morning Britain star admitted she’d love to step into the Love Island villa herself and wouldn’t hesitate to let her 20-year-old daughter Darcey sign up.

Speaking at the TRIC Awards in London, Kate said: “I would let Darcey do Love Island, yeah, but she says she will never do it!”National Television Awards 2022 – Winners Room

On her own potential stint in the famous Mediterranean villa, Kate quipped: “I’d love to do Love Island but I’m not really bikini ready!”

The TV presenter, who found love again with broadcaster Liam Halligan after the passing of her husband Derek Draper in January 2024, revealed she’d happily support her daughter if she ever changed her mind. Darcey, currently at university, is one of two children Kate shares with Derek; the couple also have son William, 16.

Kate highlighted that a Love Island experience could be a stepping stone, recalling other celebrity offspring who have entered the villa, including Dani Dyer, daughter of actor Danny Dyer, who won the fourth series in 2018. Recent examples include Gemma Owen, Michael Owen’s daughter, and Jack Keating, son of Ronan Keating.

Despite the raunchy challenges and skimpy bikinis, Kate’s enthusiasm for the show is clear – though she joked that her real-life romance with Liam means she’ll remain a viewer rather than a contestant.

“Love Island is such a cultural phenomenon,” she added. “I love watching it, and if Darcey ever wanted to go, I’d be cheering her on from the sidelines!”
