Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, 51, has revealed she’s finally entered into a new relationship after eight years of putting her daughter Kitty first. In an exclusive interview with Women’s Health UK, Hannah shared that her new man is not only “really lovely” but also “very good looking.”

For the past eight years, the actress has been fully focused on her daughter, who is now 11, following her split from her partner, Gianluca Cugnetto. The pair broke up when Kitty was just two years old, and since then, Hannah has devoted herself to raising her daughter.

“I didn’t have the space mentally or emotionally for a relationship,” she admitted. “But now I’m ready to stick my head above the parapet a bit more.” When asked if the parapet was very good looking, she laughed and confirmed, “It is!”

Romance Rumours and New Beginnings
Hannah hasn’t revealed the identity of her new boyfriend, but romance rumours were sparked back in March when she was photographed with spine surgeon Nick Beresford-Cleary at the Cheltenham Festival. Nick, a Consultant Spine Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has had a varied career, moving from mechanical engineering to medicine.

Despite not naming her new man, Hannah gushed about the relationship in her interview, adding, “The best thing about it is being happy and strong in myself.”

A Journey of Strength and Resilience
Hannah previously revealed how becoming a single mother gave her a new sense of strength, especially after her daughter fell ill at the age of three. Kitty was diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder, which led Hannah to take a step back from acting and pursue roles closer to home.

It was during this challenging period that Hannah manifested the role of Rebecca on Ted Lasso, asking the universe for a job that would challenge her and keep her close to her daughter. Just two months later, she had her first meeting for the role.

Hannah’s High Standards and Criteria for Love
In past interviews, Hannah has explained how picky she is when it comes to relationships. She has strict criteria, including positivity, charisma, and a man who can be “lovely, positive, and charismatic.”

“I want a guy that scoops me up and goes ‘I’ve got you, I don’t care if you’ve got your make-up on or not.’” Hannah added that she doesn’t tolerate bad kissers or people who avoid eye contact. “If you’re not going to step up, step off,” she said.
