Harry Redknapp has shared an emotional update on his wife Sandra after she was rushed to hospital with a life-threatening kidney infection that developed into sepsis, a serious condition that can cause organ failure or death if untreated.
Speaking at a football-themed event in London, the 79-year-old former manager said the ordeal left him shaken: “I wasn’t even home that night. My family rushed her to hospital, and if they hadn’t, it could’ve been too late. That’s how dangerous it is.”
Thankfully, Sandra, 59, has now made a full recovery and is “all good, keeping busy,” Harry confirmed. He added that the experience inspired him to raise awareness about sepsis, warning that more people die from it each year than from three major cancers combined.
Harry also touched on his own hearing struggles, admitting he sometimes forgets to wear his hearing aids but reassured fans that all is under control. He reflected on how hearing loss could be “dangerous,” recalling moments like leaving car indicators on by accident.
Despite the frightening events, Harry expressed relief that both he and Sandra are now well, praising the support of family and the NHS during the crisis.
Sepsis symptoms to watch for include confusion, shivering, muscle pain, breathing difficulties, and changes in skin color or temperature. Immediate medical attention is crucial.
