Holly Willoughby has sold the family home she left behind after being targeted in a horrifying kidnap, rape and murder plot — a move insiders say finally allows her to “draw a line” under one of the darkest periods of her life.
The former This Morning star, 44, has completed the sale of her Edwardian house in Barnes, South West London, for a reported £6.4 million, ending her ties to the property she and husband Dan Baldwin once shared with their three children.

A Home Abandoned for Safety
Holly, Dan and their family quietly moved out of the Barnes address last year after security guard Gavin Plumb was jailed for 16 years over his sick plot to abduct, rape and murder the TV presenter.
Police alerted Holly to the threat, prompting an urgent relocation as the scale of the danger became clear. The house — bought by the couple in 2011 for £2.8 million — suddenly became a symbol of fear rather than refuge.
An insider said:
“This sale draws a line under a deeply uncomfortable period of Holly’s life and allows the family to make a genuine fresh start in their new home. It’s bittersweet, though — it’s where they raised their children and built so many happy memories.”
From Sanctuary to Spotlight
The Barnes property had long been part of Holly’s private world, but it came under public scrutiny during the pandemic when she flew a Union Jack from the home’s tower in support of the NHS — a move that sparked complaints from some neighbours.
“It’s one of the most desirable streets in south London,” a local was quoted as saying at the time. “It’s not really becoming of the area.”
Despite the controversy, the family continued to invest in the house, extending it over the years and adding a swimming pool — upgrades that helped push its final sale price into eye-watering territory.
A Career Pause — and a Personal Reckoning
The terrifying plot marked a turning point for Holly. In 2023, she stepped away from This Morning, bringing an end to her long-running role on the ITV show as she focused on protecting her family and rebuilding a sense of safety.
Selling the Barnes home is understood to be part of that wider reset — a deliberate decision to sever ties with a place now overshadowed by trauma.
A New Chapter Begins
Holly and Dan have since moved into a £8 million, six-bedroom mansion, purchased mortgage-free last July, where friends say the emphasis has been on privacy, security and peace.
“This isn’t just a property transaction,” a source added. “For Holly, it’s about reclaiming control — closing one chapter so the next can begin without fear.”
Holly’s representatives were contacted for comment.
