Pregnant actress Nikki Sanderson has bravely revealed the cruel trolling she has faced since announcing she is expecting her first child at the age of 41. The Coronation Street star, who is expecting a baby boy with her partner Anthony Quinlan, has shared that some online trolls have suggested it will be her fault if there are any health issues with the baby.

The couple, who revealed their pregnancy news in December, have largely enjoyed this special time, but the online abuse has overshadowed what should be a joyful experience. Nikki explained the distressing remarks she’s received: “Some people have said I’m selfish for having a baby at my age,” she said. “Anthony said, ‘Do they not know we are the same age?’ It’s clearly not selfish for him! We’re both in our 40s, but somehow it’s targeted at me, the female in the dynamic. How can it be selfish for the mother, but not the father?”

Nikki and Anthony have been in a loving relationship since early 2022, and while their pregnancy has been largely happy, Nikki has had to contend with negative comments regarding her age. However, her fiancé, former Emmerdale actor Anthony Quinlan, has been supportive, making it clear that he doesn’t understand why the criticism is aimed solely at Nikki.

Further cruel remarks came from trolls who said that if there were any issues with the baby, it would be Nikki’s fault. “It’s so hurtful,” Nikki admitted. “Why would anyone say something like that?”

Despite the negativity, Nikki remains strong and determined to enjoy her pregnancy and celebrate the new chapter in her life. She and Anthony are both excited about the arrival of their baby boy, who is due in the spring of 2026. Nikki has said she is looking forward to welcoming a “lovely little spring baby,” and the couple has been overwhelmed with excitement.

The pair first shared their pregnancy news with fans during Christmas, posting a sweet video of themselves decorating their Christmas tree. In the video, they zoomed in on a bauble that had an image of their baby scan. “Happy Christmas from the 3 of us,” the caption read, followed by, “Baby Quinlan due 2026.” Their heartfelt announcement received well wishes from many friends and colleagues.

Nikki, who left her role as Maxine Minniver on Hollyoaks in April last year, has remained positive and continues to enjoy her pregnancy, despite the harsh comments. In an interview with The Mirror, Nikki shared her joy, saying, “We’re so happy to be having a baby, and we can’t wait to meet our little one.”

Their journey has been filled with love and support from family, friends, and fans, but the online trolling has been a difficult challenge for Nikki to face. Still, she has remained resilient and focused on the happiness that comes with expecting her first child with Anthony.

Despite the cruel words, Nikki continues to navigate her pregnancy with grace, determined to focus on the love and joy surrounding her new journey into motherhood.
