NBC’s Today show lifestyle contributor Jill Martin and her husband Erik Brooks have quietly ended their marriage, just a year after Jill revealed her breast cancer diagnosis. The couple, who married on September 10, 2022, filed for divorce in early August and are reportedly nearing the completion of the process.
The 48-year-old TV personality, who has been publicly maintaining a brave face, has privately acknowledged that the marriage is over. Her spokesperson told Page Six: “Because there are families involved, and the past year has been so earth-shattering for Jill, she plans for this to be her only acknowledgment.”

Jill and Erik, founder of Ethos Capital, originally met via a dating app and got engaged in 2019. The couple had a tumultuous history; they split in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and distance, only to reconcile and exchange vows at the New York Public Library in 2022. Tragically, just three months before their first anniversary, Jill was diagnosed with breast cancer, leading to chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. She has since announced she is cancer-free.

In an essay for Today, Jill expressed her gratitude: “I’m doing OK. I want to thank my loving husband, amazing family, and friends for supporting me.” Her representative added that Jill is currently focusing on her health, family, and new ventures, including launching a company this month.
The couple’s history has been marked by highs and lows, including multiple separations and reconciliations, but friends reveal that the stress of Jill’s diagnosis and treatment played a key role in their final split. Jill Martin continues to host segments on Today, co-hosting the third hour and preparing for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.
Outside television, Jill manages her fashion line on QVC, BumbleBella, and serves as CEO of the Hollywood retail store Shop The Scenes. Erik Brooks, meanwhile, continues to run Ethos Capital LLC, a private investment firm he founded in 2019.
Despite the personal challenges, Jill remains a prominent figure on NBC’s Today, where she has shared her story of resilience, inspiring fans with her dedication to health, career, and family.
