Jesy Nelson celebrated a deeply emotional milestone as her twins, Ocean and Story, turned one. The former Little Mix star pulled out all the stops to create a truly special birthday celebration while reflecting on her daughters’ courageous health journey. Diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, a rare muscle-wasting disorder, the twins have shown remarkable resilience, which Jesy lovingly documented in a heartfelt video.
Sharing unseen footage of her girls’ early struggles, including ambulance trips and tender family moments, Jesy narrated the clips while reading Emily Perl Kingsley’s poem Welcome to Holland, which eloquently captures the experience of raising children with disabilities. Her narration and the accompanying images highlighted the immense challenges the twins have overcome and the love that has guided them through the year.

In her moving message, Jesy wrote, “I cannot believe it has been a whole year since having my beautiful baby girls. They have been through so much. There will never be enough words to describe just how incredible they actually are. My tiny little superhumans. The strongest, most resilient little fighters I’ve ever known. One whole year old today, what a milestone to reach.”

Jesy continued, expressing her personal connection to the poem and her daughters: “I read this poem a little while ago by Emily Perl Kingsley ‘Welcome to Holland’ and I think this sums up their journey so beautifully. Happy Birthday my Ocean and Story, you are my whole heart and soul. I love you more than you will ever know.”
The heartfelt tribute garnered praise from friends and family, including actress Shona McGarty, who commented, “You’re amazing Jesy, incredible words. You’re a warrior. And always have been. Your beautiful babies are absolutely gorgeous.” Marisha Wallace added, “This is beautiful. I can’t even imagine what you have gone through. Holland looks beautiful btw. Happy Birthday girls.”
Through this intimate glimpse into her family life, Jesy Nelson not only celebrated her twins’ first year but also brought awareness to the courage and resilience of children living with spinal muscular atrophy, reminding fans everywhere of the profound power of love and family.
