After two years of heartache following the loss of her beloved husband Derek Draper, Kate Garraway is finally smiling again – and it’s all thanks to a new man in her life. The 58-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter has found comfort and joy in fellow broadcaster Liam Halligan, and insiders say the connection is nothing short of magical.
A source close to Kate revealed, “Liam is absolutely charming, funny, and incredibly intelligent. He and Kate have been enjoying some lovely, private dates that have been just the tonic she needs after everything she’s been through. They’ve known each other for 20 years, and their shared history and similar interests have made this blossoming romance feel so natural.”
Kate and Liam, 56, who has a career in business journalism, were recently spotted looking cozy at a pub in Essex, where Liam was performing with his band. The pair’s connection was palpable, and those close to them say it’s “wonderful to see Kate so happy again.” The joy is mutual—Liam has openly admitted that though it’s “early days,” he’s excited about where this new chapter could lead.
Having cared for Derek during his devastating battle with Covid-19, which tragically ended in his passing in 2024, Kate had openly shared her struggles with grief and the challenges of moving forward. Now, with her kids Darcey and William by her side, Kate is finding a new sense of joy, and her friends couldn’t be happier for her. “Kate feels like a teenager again,” said the source. “Her focus is still on her kids, but she’s making time for herself now, and Liam clearly adores her. They’re having so much fun together, and her friends believe this new romance is exactly what she deserves.”
