Katie Price has made a jaw-dropping confession about her rollercoaster love life — admitting that the only man she has ever truly loved was not one of her three husbands, but someone from her past who “broke her heart into pieces.”
The 47-year-old mum-of-five, known for her turbulent romances and high-profile marriages to Peter Andre, Alex Reid, and Kieran Hayler, opened up about the man she says changed her life forever — Another Level star Dane Bowers, now 45.
Katie and Dane were a hot couple from 1998 to 2000, their romance blossoming during the height of her early fame when she was still known as glamour model Jordan. But despite their fiery chemistry, their relationship ended in heartbreak, with Katie admitting the split left scars that have never truly healed.
The One That Got Away
Speaking candidly on her reality show Katie, the former glamour icon recalled:
“I’ve been hurt before. I’ve been heartbroken badly, when I split from Dane. He was the only guy who completely taught me about having your heart broken.
“Because of Dane, I’ve had my barriers up ever since. Even with Pete, I’d like to say they all went down, but there were still a couple up. Being heartbroken — that hurt. It’s not a nice feeling.”
The pair first crossed paths at the Wild Wild West film premiere in 1999. At the time, Dane was skyrocketing to fame, fresh off his chart-topping collaboration Out of Your Mind with Victoria Beckham. Katie, meanwhile, was cementing her status as one of the UK’s most talked-about models, gracing the covers of every major men’s magazine.
Love, Glamour… and Rumours
Despite their sizzling chemistry, the relationship was far from smooth. According to Katie’s mum, Amy, in her book The Last Word, Dane struggled with Katie’s rapid rise to fame, growing “jealous” of her career.
There were also whispers of infidelity. On her reality show, Katie revealed:
“He cheated on me bad. Oh my God, so bad.”
Katie claimed Dane had been unfaithful during a trip to Ibiza, allegedly with a dancer. She recalled confronting him with evidence after obtaining a video:
“When Dane came back — because we lived together — I said, ‘Dane, just sit down, I’ve got something to show you.’ I put it on and said, ‘So are you going to f***ing explain that then?’
He just denied it. And then, suddenly, I wasn’t allowed to go away with him when he worked with Victoria because there ‘wasn’t enough room.’ And then he ends up with Sarah Bosnich, who was Victoria’s friend. I’ve just been betrayed and lied to and everything.”
Years Later: An Awkward Reunion
Despite the bitter split, Katie and Dane reconnected years later, around six years ago, during an episode of her show My Crazy Life.
Katie attended a London gig to support Dane’s new band Boyz On Block and couldn’t hide her excitement when she spotted her former flame.
With a playful smile, she teased, “Come here, Dane.” But Dane brushed her off, saying he was busy, prompting Katie to laugh:
“Dane’s too busy for me again. It’s like another level with Dane. I’m just hanging on the side, he’s busy doing his thing.”
Later, the two shared a warm hug, with Katie admitting softly:
“Oh Dane, how are you my darling? You know what’s weird? You look older, but your eyes are still the same. Isn’t that weird?
You were a really good singer and a really good dancer. Why do you think I fell for you? When you were a bit bigger, you could dance — and I loved you when you were like that. And you broke my heart.”
The Barriers That Never Fell
Despite three marriages and a string of public relationships since her time with Dane, Katie admits no one has ever matched what she felt for him.
Friends say Dane was “the one that got away,” the man who shaped her approach to love and relationships ever since.
Whether or not the pair will ever reconnect beyond friendship remains a mystery, but one thing is clear — Dane Bowers will always be the man Katie Price calls her “one true love.”
