Speaking to The New York Times, Joaquin shared, “I really enjoyed this, and I’m already mourning it. I’m already sad that it’s going to be over. And now I want to do everything. I don’t want to limit myself.” Mark, who co-hosts LIVE with Kelly and Mark, added, “I love this. I absolutely love doing this. The pair reflected on the unique experience of performing at the same time. Mark noted, “It took a couple weeks for us to actually realize we were going to be onstage at the same time, and that was interesting, and odd, and cool.” He admitted leaning on Joaquin during rehearsals, with the son reassuring him, “You don’t need to be nervous, Dad. Joaquin described it as a “definitely a father-son experience” and treasured the shared late-night, adrenaline-filled conversations after performances. “Once we started performances, I would get home, I’d be eating dinner, and he would come home an hour later. Your adrenaline is still pumping from the performance. ‘How did it go?’ ‘Did you mess up?’ ‘I messed this up!’” Mark shared.

Beyond Broadway, the father and son still connect in daily life, running into each other at the gym and discussing shows and workouts. “I’m going to miss it. It is cool — we have so much to talk about,” Joaquin added.

Mark and Kelly Ripa, married since 1996, are also parents to Michael, 29, and Lola, 24, alongside Joaquin. With this milestone, it seems both father and son are embracing new chapters, forging both family bonds and a shared love for the stage.
