For most of her adult life, Lisa Armstrong believed in loyalty — even when it cost her everything.
For years, she treated her husband’s personal assistant, Anne-Marie Corbett, as family. She sent thoughtful, expensive gifts to her daughters on birthdays. At Christmas, she made sure Poppy and Daisy were never forgotten. She took Anne-Marie on holidays, trusted her with her home, and leaned on her during the darkest chapter of her marriage to Ant McPartlin.
“She genuinely loved those girls,” says a friend. “She saw them as an extension of her own family.”
Today, that same woman is Ant’s wife — and the mother of his first child.
A Picture That Cut Deeper Than Words
This week, Ant announced the birth of his son, Wilder Patrick, sharing a black-and-white photograph cradling the newborn. Visible in the image was his family-tree tattoo — etched with the names of his wife and her daughters.
For Lisa, 47, the moment landed like a physical blow.
“She’s childless, and always has been,” says a close friend. “Seeing that image — the baby, the tattoo, the family he now has — it devastated her. It reopened wounds she’s spent years trying to survive.”
Friends say Lisa found out about the pregnancy not through Ant, but through the press.
“That hurt almost as much as the announcement itself,” the friend adds. “It felt cold. Like she didn’t matter anymore.”
Years of Trying — and the Cruel Assumptions
Throughout their 23-year relationship, Lisa and Ant tried to have children. In a rare 2013 interview, Ant admitted they were trying — and struggling.
But when it never happened, the blame quietly fell on Lisa.
“She’s lived with people assuming she couldn’t have children,” says a source close to her. “That’s not true. But the narrative stuck, and it destroyed her confidence.”
Friends insist she had no confirmed fertility issues — only unanswered heartbreak.
“She didn’t just lose the chance to be a mum,” the source says. “She lost the future she imagined.”
Standing by Him Through Everything
Behind the scenes, Lisa spent years holding her marriage together while Ant battled alcoholism, prescription drug addiction, depression, and public scandal.
“She stayed when others wouldn’t,” a friend says. “She begged him to get help. She feared for his life.”
When the drink-driving incident happened, it was Lisa who stood firm — shielding him from the worst of the fallout while privately crumbling herself.
“She went through hell,” the friend adds. “And she stayed.”
The Betrayal That Changed Everything
Privately, Lisa believes Ant and Anne-Marie grew close before her marriage ended.
“She asked Anne-Marie to leave,” a friend says quietly. “There were arguments. Things didn’t add up.”
When Ant and Lisa divorced in 2018 after 11 years of marriage, the betrayal cut deep. When Ant later confirmed his relationship with Anne-Marie — and eventually married her — it shattered whatever peace Lisa had tried to build.
“She felt replaced,” the friend says. “Not just as a wife, but as a woman.”
Trying Again — and Losing Again
Lisa later found love with James Green, hoping for a fresh start. But that relationship ended last year, leaving her once again alone.
“She tried,” says the source. “She really did.”
Now living alone, with her former marital home on the market, Lisa’s world has become smaller, quieter — anchored by her dog, Hurley, whom she and Ant adopted when they realised parenthood might never come.
“He’s her comfort,” the friend says. “If anything keeps her going, it’s him.”
Quiet Pain, Loud Headlines
On the day Ant’s baby news broke, Lisa shared a cryptic post about “silent battles” and “wiping her own tears.” Hours later, she left for Portugal — seeking space from the noise.
“People focus on the money,” says a friend. “But emotionally? She paid a far higher price.”
Every milestone in Ant’s life — his wedding, his baby, now his tattoo — pulls Lisa back into a grief she never chose.
“She loved him completely,” the friend says. “And in the end, she lost everything she hoped for.”
Lisa rarely speaks publicly. She doesn’t defend herself. She doesn’t tell her side.
But those closest to her believe one thing has always been true — and always will be:
The real reason was him.
