Mysteriously Pulled: Ozzy Osbourne Documentary Axed from BBC Schedule at the Last Minute 😱

Fans of the late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne were left stunned and confused after a much-anticipated BBC documentary was suddenly yanked from the broadcaster’s schedule — with no clear explanation.

The special, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, which promised to be a “moving and inspirational account of the final chapter” of the Black Sabbath frontman’s extraordinary life, was set to premiere tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. But in a shocking last-minute twist, the hour-long feature mysteriously vanished from listings, replaced instead by Fake or Fortune.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed to the Mirror that the film “has moved in the schedules”, adding that new premiere details will be announced “in due course.” No further explanation was provided, leaving fans to speculate online about what caused the abrupt change.

A Final Goodbye to the Prince of Darkness

The documentary had been touted as a rare and intimate glimpse into Ozzy’s last months, filmed over a span of three years with unprecedented access to the Osbourne family, including his wife Sharon and their children Kelly and Jack.

Ozzy tragically passed away at age 76 on July 22, reportedly from a heart attack, just weeks after an emotional reunion with Black Sabbath on stage during The Back To The Beginning farewell concert in Birmingham.

According to the BBC, the one-off film chronicles the Osbournes’ emotional return to the UK, following years of living in the US. It also shows Ozzy’s determined — and often heartbreaking — battle to get strong enough to perform again, despite the toll of his declining health.

At one point in the documentary, Kelly Osbourne can be heard reflecting on her father’s struggle:

“Iron Man wasn’t really made of iron.”

Ozzy had been living with Parkinson’s disease since 2019, bravely sharing his health battles with fans across the world.

A Rollercoaster of Love, Laughter, and Pain

Earlier this month, Clare Sillery, head of BBC Documentaries, said the team felt “honoured” to share Ozzy’s final journey with the world:

“The film captures an intimate glimpse into their journey as they prepare to return to the UK. It features family moments, humour, reflection and shows the enduring spirit that made Ozzy a global icon. We hope it brings comfort and joy to Ozzy’s fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.”

Ben Wicks and Colin Barr, executive producers at production company Expectation, echoed her sentiments:

“It was an incredible privilege to spend the last few years with Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly. Ozzy wanted to make it back to the UK and appear on stage one last time – our film is an inspiring and poignant account of him fulfilling that dream.

Ozzy was loved by millions around the world not just for his music, but for his sense of mischief and his honesty, all of which we saw plenty of in the final years of his life. But one thing shone through even more brightly to us — Ozzy’s intense love for his exceptional family who were by his side through it all.”

From Series to One-Off Film

The BBC revealed that the documentary had originally been conceived as a multi-part series titled Home To Roost, first announced in 2022. The plan was to chronicle the Osbournes’ big move back to the UK after more than two decades in the US.

However, as Ozzy’s health declined, the production was reshaped into a single, powerful hour-long special that captured the final chapter of the rock legend’s story.

Fans in Mourning

Last month, thousands of grieving fans lined the streets of Birmingham to pay their respects as Ozzy’s funeral cortege travelled through the city. Sharon, Kelly, and Jack were seen wiping away tears at the Black Sabbath memorial bench, where mountains of flowers, balloons, and heartfelt tributes had been left by fans.

Musicians from Bostin Brass performed some of Black Sabbath’s biggest hits, as flowers were gently tossed toward the hearse in a tearful farewell to the Prince of Darkness.

With the sudden removal of the documentary from the schedule, emotions have run even higher among fans, who are now anxiously waiting to see when the long-awaited tribute will finally air.
