As the search for missing mother Nancy Guthrie continues, retired detective Bob Gilliam has shed light on why crucial details — including vital 911 recordings — have yet to be released. In an unsettling revelation, he suggests that the silence surrounding the case might be more strategic than accidental. 
Speaking on The Interview Room, Bob Gilliam explained that investigators might be deliberately keeping the 911 calls private to protect sensitive aspects of the ongoing investigation. “I don’t think we’re going to hear the 911 calls for a while,” Gilliam said. “There’s probably investigative information in there that the detectives don’t want out to the public.”
The mystery surrounding Nancy’s disappearance has deepened with the absence of key information, particularly the 911 calls made by her daughter Annie Guthrie. These calls could potentially provide answers that may alter the investigation’s course. According to Gilliam, the delay in releasing such details may serve a purpose in preserving the integrity of the case. 
“This could be a myriad of reasons,” he continued. “Don’t hold your breath. I think it’s going to be quite a while before we hear anything like that.”
The comments come amidst growing tension and unanswered questions about the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on January 31, spending the evening with family at her daughter Savannah Guthrie’s home. At around 9:45 p.m., Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, drove her back to her residence, ensuring she was inside before leaving. 
But what transpired after that remains unknown. Investigators believe Nancy might have been taken from her home during the early hours of February 1, though no suspects have been publicly named, and a clear sequence of events has not been established.
The concern over Nancy’s safety grew the following morning when she missed her usual church service. Although she had reportedly planned to attend, she watched it via livestream from her home. Upon realizing something was amiss, her daughter, Annie, went to check on her mother. After finding Nancy was missing, Annie immediately called 911.
However, whether any other calls were made that night remains unclear. It is precisely the uncertainty surrounding these calls — particularly what was said and when — that could hold the key to solving the mystery.
