Things get awkward very quickly for Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and newcomer Sienna in Coronation Street next week as a promising new romance takes a dramatic turn.

Asha has recently been getting to know paramedic Sienna, and after weeks of flirting, the pair finally head out on their first official date. But while sparks are clearly flying between them, it doesn’t take long for Nina to become convinced that something isn’t quite right.

Before the date, Asha is understandably nervous, but Nina is there to calm her down, reassuring her that she looks amazing and telling her she’s going to have a great time.

And for a while, it looks like she’s right.

Asha and Sienna arrive back at the flat all smiles after what appears to have been a successful evening, leaving Nina and Amy Barlow pleased to see that the date has gone well.

Out of nowhere, Sienna’s phone rings and her whole demeanour changes. Suddenly flustered, she announces that she has to leave straight away, leaving Asha, Nina and Amy completely puzzled by the sudden change of plan.

Although Sienna later apologises, explaining that she had to rush off to take her elderly aunt to bingo, Nina isn’t convinced by the excuse.

Her suspicions only grow when Sienna returns to the flat not long afterwards.

Trying not to interrupt, Nina pokes her head around Asha’s bedroom door, only to discover Asha and Sienna in bed together.

Clearly embarrassed, Nina quickly apologises before making a hasty exit and retreating to her own room.

But the awkward encounter is only the beginning of the drama.

After Sienna leaves, Nina makes a worrying discovery when she can’t find her envelope containing her wages.

Instead of assuming it’s simply been misplaced, Nina immediately jumps to the worst possible conclusion.

Convinced Sienna has taken the money, Nina suggests to a horrified Asha that her new girlfriend must have stolen it.

Asha is left completely stunned by the accusation, struggling to believe Nina could think the worst of someone she’s only just started seeing.

It raises questions over whether Nina’s instincts are actually telling her something important, or whether she’s letting her emotions cloud her judgement.

After all, Nina and Asha have remained incredibly close despite the end of their relationship, and it’s no secret that she wants the best for her former girlfriend. But has that protectiveness gone too far?

Or has Sienna’s strange behaviour really given Nina good reason to be suspicious?

With Sienna’s mysterious phone call, her rushed exit and now Nina’s missing wages all adding to the mystery, there’s every chance this is only the beginning of the drama.
