Ollie Locke has revealed new, heart-wrenching details about his financial turmoil, sharing that he and his husband Gareth spent an eye-watering £500,000 on IVF and surrogacy to fulfill their dream of becoming parents. The Made In Chelsea star, 39, told the Daily Mail that he sold his previous home to fund the expensive treatment with Gareth, 37, before welcoming their twins, Apollo and Cosima, via surrogacy in July 2023.

In an exclusive interview, Ollie opened up about the emotional rollercoaster of their journey to parenthood, which included enduring the heartbreak of six miscarriages. The toll of this, coupled with the financial strain, pushed the couple to the edge. The couple also faced frustrating delays, with the pandemic dragging out their efforts to conceive and start a family.

After selling his property to cover the fertility expenses, Ollie and Gareth moved into a luxurious £4 million four-bedroom home in Chelsea. However, their financial struggles continued as they racked up £25,000 in unpaid rent, eventually being forced to leave the property in February 2026.

Ollie explained, “We were advised that IVF would cost around £150,000. I thought, if I remortgage my house, I might be able to afford it. So, we sold it. But we had no idea that the bills would spiral out of control. After six devastating losses, we finally had twins, but the total cost ended up being £500,000.”

The couple’s financial woes didn’t end there. They now find themselves facing £45,000 in unpaid rent and legal fees after missing three months of payments. Ollie said this has been a particularly “humiliating” chapter, leaving him devastated and struggling with his mental health. “The stress of the situation has pushed me to my lowest point, and I’ve had a breakdown,” he admitted.

While Ollie has felt the emotional weight of their situation, Gareth provided a somewhat more pragmatic perspective, commenting, “Everyone has financial issues, whether it’s paying a credit card bill late or missing a rent payment.” He went on to say that since becoming parents, their financial priorities have shifted. “Kids are expensive. We’re putting them first, and that means our needs come last.”

The financial strain has only intensified with the additional costs of raising their twins, born prematurely at 31 weeks. Their developmental needs, including speech therapy for their nonverbal children, have added another layer of financial pressure. Ollie revealed that they now spend £1,000 a week on their twins’ care, with costs rising as their children continue to need special support.

Despite the challenges, Ollie remains committed to his family, reflecting on their previous life in Chelsea, where he felt pressure to maintain a luxurious facade. “After all these years of trying to keep up the appearance of a glamorous lifestyle, we’re now focused on building a real family, away from that world,” he explained.

Ollie and Gareth, who married in 2020 at the Natural History Museum in London, are determined to create a better future for their twins and move forward from the difficult chapters they’ve faced.

Their new home offers a fresh start, away from the glitzy, fast-paced lifestyle they had been living. Gareth said, “We wanted a change. We needed a new environment where we could focus on our family.”

As they embark on this new chapter, the couple is hopeful that the struggles they’ve faced will ultimately strengthen their bond and provide a better foundation for raising their family.
