Chloe Melas, Today Show host, has courageously opened up about a personal health battle sheâs faced for the past 15 years. Speaking on the Today Show, Chloe revealed that she has been battling ulcerative colitis, a chronic condition that has caused her to undergo multiple hospitalizations and surgeries, including countless colonoscopies.

The 44-year-old journalist, known for her upbeat demeanor, shared the journey behind her new book, The Girlâs Guide to Guts, which delves into her health struggles and offers insight into the condition. Chloe explained that for years, she struggled to find answers and a sense of community, especially as ulcerative colitis, along with other forms of irritable bowel disease (IBD), is becoming more prevalent.
The book, which Chloe co-wrote with her best friend Judy Batalion, a New York Times bestselling author also living with ulcerative colitis, is both a memoir and a resource. In addition to sharing personal stories, it includes interviews with medical experts and hopes to shed light on the experiences of others dealing with IBD, IBS, and colon cancer.
âIt’s funny and it’s sad,” Chloe said of the memoir. “I just want people to know theyâre not alone, and hopefully this book helps millions of girls love their guts and find some solidarity.”
Fans expressed immense support in the comments section of the interview clip, with one person writing, “Youâre amazing” and another adding, “Bravo! Thank you for bringing this to light for so many women.”
Chloeâs raw honesty about her health struggles is a reminder of the strength it takes to live with a chronic illness and the importance of raising awareness.
