Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash were finally looking forward to something they rarely get—a peaceful child-free date. But what started as a romantic escape quickly turned into a hilarious family gathering after an unexpected guest crashed their plans.
The couple headed to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix after Joe’s sister kindly agreed to look after their children, giving the busy parents a chance to spend some quality time together.
Before setting off, Stacey couldn’t hide her excitement, sharing a sweet tribute to her husband on Instagram.
“Mum & dad date day. With you, it doesn’t matter what they say—to the moon and back,” she wrote, adding that it was a rare opportunity for just the two of them.
Their “Date” Didn’t Stay Romantic for Long
However, once they arrived, Stacey revealed that their quiet getaway had taken a very unexpected turn.
Joining them at Silverstone were her ex-partner Dean Cox—the father of her eldest son, Zachary—along with his wife, Stacey’s dad Dave, and other family members.
Laughing at the unusual situation, Stacey joked in an Instagram video:
“Do you know who’s really important to bring on a date day with your husband? Your last baby daddy and his wife! Zach’s dad, Zach’s stepmum, my dad… they’re all here on this date with us!”
Far from creating any awkwardness, the blended family appeared to enjoy the day together, highlighting the close relationship they’ve maintained over the years.
Joe Swash Becomes the “Third Wheel”
The surprises didn’t end there.
Stacey also explained that bringing her father along was non-negotiable because attending the British Grand Prix had always been one of his lifelong dreams.
“It’s not a date day without bringing your dad! This is Dave’s lifelong dream, so we couldn’t come without him,” she laughed.
That left Joe joking that he had somehow become the “third wheel” on what was supposed to be a romantic outing.
