Steven McBee Jr. addressed his speedy romance with Allie Eklund and the challenges they faced during an interview last week.
As he also revealed which three Bravolebrities he’d like to shoot his shot with, the 33-year-old McBee Dynasty star explained why he seemed to be in such a rush to settle down with Allie, 29, and include her in his family business, as Allie offered a response to the ongoing drama surrounding her contract for season three.
“[It did feel like we were moving fast] but I knew — or I thought I knew what I was looking for — so when Allie and I met, I was like, hey, I’m 31 years old, my brothers already have started their families. I know exactly what I’m looking for. This girl seems to be it. There’s no time to waste. Why waste time when I know what I’m looking for and I found it?” Steven wondered on the July 20 episode of Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea.
He then spoke of Allie’s contract, saying, “Allie is an incredible woman, and you know, she obviously has her own career, a very successful career as an influencer. So she has to be very conscious of that.”
While Allie has been accused of making salary demands to appear on season three, Steven said he didn’t blame her for “how tough of a negotiator she was during that process.” That said, he noted that it “definitely threw another layer of complexity in [their] relationship.”
“Whenever I was first getting to know her, it’s like, ‘Hey, I want to see this girl, but I have to work through her manager to see if it’s okay she can come up.’ It was a very strange layer, and it definitely added some challenges to the relationship,” he revealed.
Then, regarding his effort to get Allie a 20 percent stake in his sister-in-law Kacie Adkison‘s tallow skincare line, Steven admitted to regrets.
“Looking back, that was not a good idea. I moved very quickly,” he added.
After the clip was shared, Allie reacted in a comment.
“I’d also like to add in case you want it from the source, me, that I didn’t sign my contract for the show until WEEKS into filming,” she began. “If you noticed I wasn’t at Jake’s birthday dinner or the final dinner at headquarters, that’s why. It wasn’t just my own interests I had to consider.. I also had pre-existing businesses, employees and business partners who never signed up to be part of a reality show. I had a responsibility to protect them too.”
She went on to say, “Until everything was finalized, I made the choice to pause filming and continue getting to know him off camera, which was actually my preference from the beginning. I was very communicative about this and everyone involved was aware and supportive of that decision. Until now, conveniently, when it doesn’t serve their narrative!”
During another segment of his interview on Virtual Reali-Tea, Steven went through a number of Bravolebrities, sharing which he’d swipe right on.
“[Ciara Miller]? Absolutely swiping right. [Mia Calabrese]? Swiping right. [Salley Carson]? Swiping right. [Amanda Batula]? Swiping left on that one. I don’t want to get caught up in that. [Luann de Lesseps]? Swiping right. [Ashley Darby]? Swiping right. [Lala Kent]? … Swiping right. Mother Hubbs. Yeah, Lindsay Hubbard. Swiping right,“ he shared.
Then, after being asked who he’d shoot his shot with, he replied, “I would say Ciara or Mia for sure. Actually, you know what? Luann was flirting with me at BravoCon. So, I’d say Luann, too. Absolutely.”
