Kelly Ripa caused a stir on Tuesday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Mark after revealing a surprising theory about her husband, Mark Consuelos — one that had both the audience and viewers at home laughing out loud.
According to the talk show star, her longtime partner looks strikingly similar to a Rottweiler — a comparison she insists is both accurate and adorable.
Kelly Ripa’s Emotional Reminder About Her “Lookalike” Pup
The conversation began when Ripa raised the popular idea that pets often resemble their owners. The 53-year-old then paused to share a heartfelt memory, reminding viewers that her “lookalike” dog, Chewie, had sadly passed away in February at the age of 17.
“We really did look a lot alike,” she admitted with a smile tinged with sadness. “Your lookalike is still alive and kicking,” she told Consuelos, nodding toward the couple’s surviving pup, Lena.
“Big Rottweiler Energy” 
As the segment continued, Ripa suddenly turned to her husband and declared, “I think you look a lot like a Rottweiler.”
Consuelos played along, pulling exaggerated puppy faces into the camera as the studio audience roared with laughter. But Ripa doubled down: “He does! Looks like a Rottweiler, don’t you think? Look at this man — look into the camera.”
Grinning, Consuelos leaned into the joke: “I’ve got Rottweiler energy.” To which Ripa quickly fired back, repeating flirtatiously, “Big Rottweiler energy.”
From Skeptic to “Dog Dad” 
The exchange also opened the door for Ripa to tease her husband about his evolving relationship with their dog Lena. While he initially resisted adopting her, Ripa revealed he is now “the man who takes his dog to restaurants.”
Live even flashed a photo on-screen of Consuelos sitting in a restaurant booth with Lena right beside him — a sight Ripa couldn’t help but mock. “The man who did not want this dog now carries her in a purse to restaurants,” she joked. “It’s a purse!”
Who’s “Baby”? Confusion at Home
Consuelos admitted that sometimes his affection for both his wife and their dog gets a little… confusing.
“I’ve got to be careful now,” the All My Children actor confessed. “If the two of you are in the kitchen, and I walk in and say, ‘Hey baby,’ Kelly thinks I’m not talking to her.”
Ripa interrupted with mock outrage: “That’s because you’re not talking to me!”
Between the laughter, playful teasing, and affectionate digs, Tuesday’s episode proved one thing for certain — in Kelly’s eyes, Mark Consuelos may just be her favorite “Rottweiler.”
