Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) gets the shock of his life in Coronation Street today, as Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor) share the news that they’ve found his biological dad.

We actually met Tyrone’s dad earlier in the week, but Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) was the only person to see him.

Thanks to the information we know about Cassie’s past, it’s safe to assume that Ty’s dad is going to cause trouble.

Here’s everything you need to know about him.

Who is Tyrone’s dad in Coronation Street?

Tyrone’s biological father is called Ross Wilkes. The character, played by Ian Burfield, has never been in Weatherfield before, as Tyrone spent the majority of his life being looked after by his adoptive parents.

He started to learn more about his family connections when he found nan Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman). When mum Cassie rocked up in 2023, Tyrone discovered more information about his biological dad, and the traumatic life Cassie lived when she was a teenager.

What did Ross do to Cassie?

When she was 12, Cassie fell in with the wrong crowd and started drinking. At the age of 15, she started taking heroin and was groomed by a man called Richie.

Cassie, believing that Richie loved her, would do whatever she was told, including sleeping with his friends for money.

In the 80s, Cassie ran away from the family home after the death of her dad.

She reappeared six months later, having recently given birth to a son. It was confirmed that the father, aka Ross, paid someone to have sex with Cassie when she was underage.

Evelyn took her daughter home and left the child – who is Tyrone – on the doorstep on a police station, feeling that it was the best place for him.

What happened during Ross’ first scenes?

After Cassie’s failed proposal to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), she headed to the Chariot Square Hotel. She got drunk, and ended up flirting with Ross. At the time, Cassie failed to recognise him, and happily engaged in conversation with him as a distraction.

Ross was overly friendly to Cassie and also flirted. A few hours later though, his behaviour had suddenly changed. He made it clear that he was disgusted at how quickly Cassie had consumed so much alcohol, and told her to go to bed.

After his vile comments, Ross signed his bar tab and left. Cassie glanced at the bill, and was horrified to see the signature said Ross Wilkes.

In today’s episode, Tyrone is at the Bistro when Hope and Ruby reveal that they’ve tracked his dad down. Ross arrives, and Tyrone is absolutely stunned.

But what will Cassie do as this awful man enters her life again?
