The 25-year-old finds himself at the centre of a storm after disturbing allegations about his private life began circulating online — sparking outrage from fans, former players and even those who once walked the same NFL path.
A father’s warning that stunned listeners
Former Pro Bowl wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh didn’t hold back when the topic came up on the Speakeasy podcast.
Speaking as a father of daughters, he delivered a chilling message.
“You touch my daughter, I’m going to prison,” Houshmandzadeh said. “I hope nobody ever tries me.”
He went on to stress that men carry a responsibility never to use their size or strength against women, adding that he could never imagine laying hands on a woman — and that anyone who harmed his child would face serious consequences.
Ex-girlfriend shares painful claims
The comments followed a series of Instagram posts by Rice’s former partner, Dacoda Jones. While she did not name Rice directly, she described enduring years of alleged abuse, shared graphic images and accused her ex of being controlling and violent — even during pregnancy.
“I’m tired of staying quiet,” Jones wrote. “It’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself.”
Chiefs and NFL now involved
The Kansas City Chiefs released a brief statement confirming they are aware of the allegations and are in communication with the NFL, adding they would not comment further at this time.
This controversy arrives only months after Rice pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges related to a serious car collision, which led to a six-week suspension earlier in the season.
