Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has spoken candidly about the devastating moment she lost her baby at 24 weeks, describing the experience as “horrendous” and “like an out-of-body experience.”
The 32-year-old singer, who shares her four-year-old son Axel with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, recalled the heartbreaking ordeal during an interview with Paul C. Brunson on his We Need To Talk podcast.

“We went for what was a 20-week scan, but we were actually 22 weeks, and that was the worst day of my life. I just knew something was wrong in the scan, and the doctor kept going over the same thing. Everything went into slow motion. I’ve never felt anything like it,” she said.
Perrie explained that Alex was injured at the time and could barely drive, while she herself was in pieces: “I couldn’t see straight. I was just distraught. We basically lost the baby at 24 weeks.”

This was not her first loss. Before welcoming Axel, Perrie had suffered an early miscarriage, making her son what she describes as her “rainbow baby.” She admitted the second loss was especially painful because they had already started preparing the nursery and planning their baby’s arrival. “When you’re fully carrying at 24 weeks and you’ve planned out the room, it’s really hard. And then friends would message me, asking ‘how’s the bump?’ – and I had to say, there is no bump.”

Despite the anguish, Perrie still recalls her pregnancy with Axel as one of the happiest times of her life. “I loved being pregnant, it was complete bliss. Carrying babies felt so special.”
The singer, who has been with former Arsenal and Liverpool star Alex since 2016, got engaged in a romantic beach proposal in 2022 but has yet to marry. Before Alex, she was engaged to One Direction’s Zayn Malik – a relationship she now reflects on as “toxic,” admitting that only later did she realise how unhealthy it had been. “When I became single, I thought I never wanted to go through that again. But Alex came into my life with such a calming energy. It made me see how love should really feel.”
