As serious allegations surface online involving wide receiver Rashee Rice, fans have begun circulating comments made just months ago by Travis Kelce — praise that now feels painfully out of place.

On Wednesday, Rice’s former partner, Dacoda Jones, shared 14 photos and a lengthy message to Instagram showing cuts, bruises, damaged property and torn clothing. While she did not mention Rice by name, the accusations appeared directed at him. The Chiefs later confirmed they were aware of the posts and were communicating with the NFL.

“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the league,” the team said in a brief statement.

Kelce’s support now under the spotlight

Back in October 2025, as Rice prepared to return from a six-game suspension linked to a multicar crash in Dallas, Kelce had nothing but glowing things to say about his teammate.

He called Rice “such a good dude,” describing him as one of his favorite people in the locker room — hardworking, generous, and someone who lived life the right way. Chiefs players even wore “Free 4” shirts during warmups to show solidarity.

Those words are now being replayed across social media, framed against the disturbing claims made this week.

A troubling pattern off the field

Rice’s history already included a major setback. In July 2025, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to two felony charges stemming from the 2024 crash, and ordered to pay over $115,000 in restitution.

Jones now alleges years of controlling behavior, physical harm — including during pregnancy — damage to her home, and being left outside in freezing conditions. She says she stayed silent for too long in order to protect his image.

“I’m tired of keeping quiet,” she wrote. “I have to protect myself and my children.”

Silence from Rice as scrutiny grows

Rice’s grandmother has denied the claims, suggesting they stem from a dispute over apartment payments, but neither Rice nor his representatives have addressed the accusations directly.

What was once framed as a redemption arc is now clouded by doubt, leaving Kelce’s old praise echoing uncomfortably through a story that is still unfolding — and one that may change far more than a football season.
