Talia Oatway, former Geordie Shore star, has revealed her disabled son Oakley is set to undergo his twentieth surgery after experiencing a worrying new symptom. In an emotional post, Talia shared the distressing news with her followers and gave an insight into the constant battle she faces caring for her son, who was born with Apert Syndrome and Hydrocephalus.

In the heartfelt update, Talia posted a series of photos, including some from Oakley’s recent hospital stay, where he was pictured in his hospital bed surrounded by medical equipment. “Another unexpected hospital admission. Another surgery number 20,” she wrote.

Talia explained the ordeal that led to Oakley’s latest surgery, revealing that the wires previously inserted into his skull had caused skin breakdown, making the procedure necessary. “Life with a medically complex child can change in a heartbeat,” she wrote, describing how the family had gone from being at home to rushing to Liverpool for yet another operation.

Oakley, who is just three years old, has already endured more surgeries than most people will in a lifetime. “It never gets easier,” Talia admitted. “The fear, the waiting, the helplessness — it never goes away. But you keep going because your child needs you to be strong when they can’t be.”

Despite everything, Talia remains hopeful. “I lean on my psychologist, take things one day at a time, and remind myself that strength doesn’t mean not struggling — it means showing up anyway,” she wrote. Talia also shared that the family is now back home and Oakley is recovering, already showing her what true strength looks like.

Fans flooded the comments with messages of support, praising Talia and Oakley for their bravery. “Such a strong mum and brave boy,” one user commented, while another added, “Poor little guy. You are amazing. I honestly don’t think I could handle anything like this.”

Oakley’s rare condition, Apert Syndrome, causes fusion of the skull, hands, and feet bones. He has also been diagnosed with Hydrocephalus, a condition that causes abnormal fluid buildup in the brain. Despite these challenges, Oakley continues to fight and inspire everyone around him.

Talia shares Oakley with her ex-partner, Aaron Chalmers, a fellow Geordie Shore star. She has been incredibly open about her son’s health struggles online and the difficulties she faces as a mother caring for a medically complex child.
