Jane Fallon has shared a positive health update just days after undergoing surgery following her breast cancer diagnosis. The author, who is in a long-term relationship with comedian Ricky Gervais, revealed earlier this month that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer despite showing no symptoms prior to the diagnosis.
Now, Jane has revealed encouraging news, telling her followers that her surgery was successful. In a clip shared on her X account, Jane said, âThe surgeon said I can lift some weights, so Iâm starting with this one,â as she lifted her cat. âJust a little update, everything is good, and yesterday I had my follow-up appointment, and theyâve basically removed everything.â
However, she also shared that she would need another procedure to ensure everything was fully removed. âWhat they havenât got is a clear margin around the edge of what theyâve taken, so Iâll need to have another operation,â she explained. âItâs a bit of a pain, but not a worryâthey just need to make sure thereâs a clear margin, so it will be exactly the same as last time.â
Opening up about her upcoming second operation, Jane shared that she feels more confident now, especially since her recovery has been easier than she initially expected. âI know now that the recovery is so much easier than I thought it would be. This is me, 10 days later,â she said, looking much better than she anticipated.
Despite the hurdles, Jane remains positive, and the fact that she was diagnosed so early has made all the difference. âIâm lucky that I was diagnosed so early. I had no symptoms, but thanks to a routine mammogram, they spotted something off and sent me for further tests and a biopsy,â she added. âIâve had more mammograms, biopsies, and an MRI to pinpoint the exact area. Itâs been a lot, but Iâm in good hands.â
Jane has expressed her gratitude for the incredible care she has received, and in her caption, she thanked her followers for their support. âI know how lucky I am to have had my diagnosis so early, from a routine mammogram,â she wrote. She also shared her appreciation for the conversations sheâs had with others whoâve gone through similar experiences.
Jane is now considering options for treatment, including taking Tamoxifen, and reached out to her followers for advice on the side effects, which sheâs heard can be challenging.
Jane and Ricky Gervais have been together for over 40 years and are well known as one of the most enduring couples in the entertainment world. Jane is also known for her work as an author, with bestselling books such as Getting Rid of Matthew and Faking Friends.
Earlier this month, Jane assured her fans not to âpanicâ and revealed that her prognosis is âexcellent.â She also expressed her appreciation for the support sheâs received from her fans and medical team.
