Zoe Ball Reveals Her Daughter Nelly’s ADHD Diagnosis—The Third Family Member to Be Affected

In a touching and candid moment, Zoe Ball has revealed that her 16-year-old daughter Nelly has been diagnosed with ADHD, making her the third member of the family to live with the condition. Zoe, 55, who also has ADHD, and her son Woody, 25, have both openly spoken about their experiences with the behavioral condition, which is characterized by inattentiveness, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.Zoe Ball shares rare snap with children Woody, 24, and Nellie, 14, as they enjoy family day out with her famous dad Johnny Ball, 86 | Daily Mail Online

Speaking to The Mirror, Zoe opened up about Nelly’s diagnosis and how it has affected their family dynamic. “It’s been a journey,” Zoe shared, explaining that Nelly now takes medication to help manage her condition, especially at school. “I always talk about having ADHD because learning about their experiences has helped me understand mine better.”

Zoe also reflected on the small steps Nelly has taken to bring some order into the chaos that often accompanies ADHD. “Nell started a new routine where every Sunday night, she tidies her room, gets her things ready for school, and has a nice shower,” Zoe said with pride. “I’ve loved seeing her find this for herself. It’s made me realize how much order really helps.”

This latest family diagnosis comes after Zoe herself revealed her own ADHD diagnosis in December 2023. In 2024, her son Woody also spoke about how ADHD has influenced his career as a DJ, calling it his “unique selling point” and claiming that his energetic style behind the decks, constantly moving and jumping, sets him apart from other DJs.

Zoe and her ex-husband Norman Cook, better known as DJ Fatboy Slim, have remained close after their 2016 split. The two have co-parented their children, Nelly and Woody, with a sense of unity, even jokingly calling their family dynamic “putting the funk into dysfunctional” over the Christmas holidays.Zoe Ball and Norman Cook's daughter Nelly, 14, makes VERY rare public appearance as presenter announces radio return

As for Nelly, her sweet 16th birthday in January was a heartwarming occasion, with Zoe posting adorable throwbacks from Nelly’s childhood. “Happy Sweet 16 BG ♥️ love you Nelly Noodle,” Zoe wrote alongside a montage of photos, including ones with her ex-husband, Norman. Woody also shared a touching tribute to his sister, captioning a series of photos, “Happy Birthday to my Favourite Sister I’ll ever have!!!!!!!”

While ADHD is often misunderstood, Zoe and her family are working to change that narrative by sharing their personal stories and raising awareness. Through their openness, they hope to inspire others who are living with ADHD, proving that a diagnosis doesn’t have to define someone—it’s just one part of who they are.
