Though no longer romantically together, Tess Daly and Vernon Kay remain united when it comes to their children. Following their shock split earlier this month after 22 years of marriage, the former couple joined forces for a massive clean-up at their £5 million Buckinghamshire home after their daughter Amber’s 16th birthday party.
Speaking on his BBC Radio 2 show, Vernon described the effort: “Yesterday, we were tidying up, Amber had a party. Tess and I were running around cleaning up, and thank goodness the weather was nice. We had such a good time on Saturday night, it was very funny.”
He continued, “But in the morning, Tess and I were like, ‘Woah, better get cracking!’ My co-star Ellie suggested it was an ‘all day job,’ and I agreed — brace yourself!”

The couple are also parents to Phoebe, 19, who frequently appears alongside them at glamorous industry events. Despite the end of their marriage, they have publicly emphasized their shared commitment to parenting.

The update followed Vernon thanking listeners for their support after the split announcement on 8 May, when the couple posted a joint statement on Instagram. They wrote, “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably. This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us. We remain great friends and most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents.”
Their separation came as a surprise to many, as just weeks earlier, they had appeared solid, co-hosting an edition of The One Show for the first time in 20 years. Opening the show, Vernon introduced Tess as “TV royalty” and joked that she would keep him “in check.”
