For more than four decades, Lorraine Kelly has been one of the most familiar faces on British television. But behind the scenes, fresh reports suggest the beloved presenter could be quietly preparing for a very different future.

According to new claims, Lorraine has yet to sign a new contract with ITV after dramatic changes were made to her daytime programme. Her show was recently reduced from a year-round format to just 30 weeks annually, while episode lengths were shortened to 30 minutes.
The reported uncertainty has sparked growing speculation about what could come next for the television veteran.

At 66, Lorraine remains one of Britain’s most recognisable broadcasters, but sources claim she has been increasingly frustrated by the sweeping cutbacks affecting her programme and production team. With her current ITV contract due to expire next year, attention is now turning toward whether the presenter could eventually pursue opportunities beyond the network she has called home for so long.
Insiders have suggested Lorraine is already laying the groundwork for life beyond traditional television.
One report claims the presenter has been seeking advice from former ITV colleague Piers Morgan, who successfully built a global online audience after leaving Good Morning Britain in 2021 and launching his Uncensored brand.

A source told The Sun that Lorraine has been considering new projects away from ITV for some time.

According to the insider, she has closely watched the success of online interview programmes and YouTube-based formats that have attracted huge audiences in recent years.
The source claimed: “Lorraine has been secretly planning her next big project away from ITV for ages. She’s seen the incredible success of YouTube interview series. All the big names are doing them, including her friend Piers Morgan.”
The insider added that Lorraine has continued discussing ideas with former members of her team and remains particularly close to many colleagues affected by the recent cuts.
They suggested that one attraction of an online format is the freedom it would offer.
The source claimed: “Lorraine loves the idea of being her own boss. She could film at home, work on her own schedule and collaborate again with people she has worked with for years.”
While retirement has occasionally been mentioned by commentators, those close to the presenter reportedly insist that stepping away completely is not on her agenda.
Instead, they say she would simply like more flexibility in her life.
The source added: “Lorraine is older now, but she’s nowhere near retirement. She would love more time with her daughter Rosie and granddaughter Billie, without the pressure of constantly travelling to London for a relatively short amount of screen time.”
Another reported possibility involves a family collaboration.
According to the insider, one idea being explored is a podcast featuring Lorraine alongside her daughter Rosie. The proposed project, reportedly titled Mother To Mother, would focus on conversations with celebrity mothers and family-focused discussions.
The source claimed the concept is already at an advanced planning stage.
Representatives for Lorraine and ITV were contacted for comment by the Daily Mail.
However, Lorraine’s representatives pushed back against suggestions that she is preparing to leave her television role.
They told The Sun: “Lorraine has no plans to move away from her show, and any podcast activities would be part of a wider portfolio, similar to many broadcasters today. Her television programme remains her absolute priority.”
The latest reports arrive amid a wider period of change across ITV’s daytime schedule.
Last year it was revealed that major alterations to Lorraine’s programme would result in significant reductions to the show’s output. The move also meant that Friday presenters Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard would no longer be required in their existing roles.
Other ITV productions have also felt the impact of cost-cutting measures.
Loose Women lost its live studio audience after relocating from ITV’s previous television complex to a considerably smaller site in Covent Garden.
Additional reports suggested that resources behind the scenes have become increasingly stretched.
It has been claimed that Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid no longer has access to a dedicated hairdresser and now shares backstage beauty teams with ITV News staff.
Previously, ITV’s daytime programmes were produced from the larger Television Centre in White City. However, the move to a smaller location is said to have created new challenges for production teams.
One source previously told the Daily Mail: “It’s incredibly chaotic behind the scenes. Loose Women, This Morning and Lorraine are all operating within the same limited area, with multiple sets squeezed together.”
The insider added that dressing room space has become particularly difficult to manage.
“There simply isn’t enough room, especially when several presenters are preparing for live television at the same time. It’s far from ideal and there have been tensions behind the scenes.”
As speculation continues over Lorraine’s future, reports suggest she remains focused on exploring new possibilities while continuing her current television commitments.
The discussion surrounding her next move comes shortly after her daughter Rosie spoke publicly about online criticism she received following the BAFTA Awards in London.
Rosie revealed she had been subjected to cruel comments on social media, with some users speculating about her appearance and even suggesting she was pregnant.
The mother-of-one, 31, said she ultimately removed photographs from social media after receiving the negative remarks.
In a video shared online, Rosie described the comments as unacceptable and urged people to think more carefully before commenting on someone’s appearance.
She said: “It’s not about picking sides or arguing. It’s simply about calling out behaviour that isn’t nice.”
Rosie also spoke candidly about body image struggles following the birth of her child.
She explained: “Yes, I have gone up a dress size and it hasn’t been easy to lose the weight.”
Addressing speculation about pregnancy, she added: “That’s another issue entirely. I’m not pregnant, and I think it’s disappointing that in 2026 people still feel it’s acceptable to comment on someone else’s body.”
Lorraine publicly supported her daughter following the video, responding with a heartfelt message.
“Well said,” she wrote. “You are so beautiful and I am so proud of you.”
