In April, Geist marked the 10th anniversary of Sunday Today with a special episode highlighting over 375 interviews conducted during the past decade. He recalls hosting Leslie Odom Jr. during the height of Hamilton fame, describing it as an early career boost. Over the years, he’s shared unforgettable moments with Al Pacino, David Letterman, Rachel Brosnahan, and Ice Cube, experiences he says he still cherishes. Ten years ago, Geist was already a familiar face on weekdays, co-hosting the third hour of Today and Morning Joe on MSNBC. When offered the chance to lead Sunday Today, he had to persuade his wife, Christina Sharkey Geist, that working six days a week could fit into their family life. “I remember sitting with my wife on a ski trip… I said, ‘So I’m going to be doing a Sunday Today show,’ and she was supportive,” he laughs.

Geist continues to host Morning Joe during the week and believes there’s plenty of runway left for Sunday Today. He hopes to welcome more icons, from Tom Hanks to Taylor Swift and Jay-Z, alongside the many luminaries already featured. Willie Geist and Christina Geist attend the 2022 A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Cure Parkinson's on October 29, 2022 in New York City.

The show has cultivated a loyal audience, who tune in at 8 a.m. ET each Sunday with their signature oversized yellow mugs, affectionately dubbed “mugshots.” Geist credits the team for the program’s success, saying, “We have an audience that trusts us and we’re so grateful to them. We’re just going to try to keep giving them what they’ve come to love.”

Sunday Today airs Sundays at 8 a.m. ET on NBC, and Geist looks forward to another decade of memorable interviews, storytelling, and connecting with viewers.
