Alyssa Farah Griffin has shared an emotional account of her baby son’s recent health scare, revealing that her 2-month-old child, Justin Patrick Jr., underwent a major operation and spent time in the intensive care unit.
In a clip from The View podcast, the 36-year-old TV personality opened up about the frightening experience, saying she and her husband Justin Griffin spent the weekend by their newborn’s side in the ICU after the unexpected surgery.
Griffin chose not to disclose medical details, explaining that the experience was overwhelming and emotionally difficult, describing it as the “hardest thing” she has ever been through.
She shared that she spent the time praying and coping privately, but was deeply relieved when doctors confirmed the operation had gone even better than expected.
According to Griffin, her son is now recovering well and meeting milestones quickly, even showing playful and happy behaviour shortly after the procedure.
“He’s smiling, flirting with the nurses… he’s totally his father’s son,” she said, adding that seeing him recover brought one of the happiest moments of her life.
The The View co-host also reflected on the experience, saying it strengthened her appreciation for medical staff and deepened her bond with her husband during the crisis.
Griffin had announced the birth of her son in February, with co-host Whoopi Goldberg sharing the news live on the show after Alyssa missed an episode due to labour.
Baby Justin Jr. was born weighing 7 lbs and measuring 19.5 inches.
Despite the frightening ordeal, Griffin says her son is now on the road to full recovery and thriving at home.
