They were once one of TV’s golden couples, but after more than a decade together, Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty’s marriage has come to an emotional end.
Last month, the This Morning presenter, 48, and her comedian husband, 54, shocked fans by announcing their split after 12 years of marriage. In their joint statement, the couple didn’t reveal the reasons behind their separation but stressed there was “no other party involved.”
Now, new claims suggest that Cat fought hard to save the relationship — even trying to “fall back in love again” with Patrick — before finally accepting that the spark had faded.
‘She Tried to Love Him Again’
According to Closer, an insider revealed that Cat did not simply walk away. Instead, she tried to reignite her feelings for Patrick but admitted it “just wasn’t there anymore.”
The source explained:
“They had drifted apart. Cat tried to fall in love again with Pat but it wasn’t working. She felt it was better to save a friendship than stay in a marriage that could end with resentment and hate.”
Cat and Patrick met back in 2002 but didn’t start dating until a decade later. They tied the knot in 2015 and went on to welcome two sons together — Milo, eight, and James, five.
But despite their efforts, distance and time seemed to erode what they once had.
Heartbreak Behind the Smile
While insiders claim Cat is looking ahead to a new chapter, they also stress that she is far from unscathed.
“It does hurt and she’s very sad,” the source continued. “No separation comes without heartbreak. And now that it’s out in public, it feels suddenly very real.”
The split, said to be heartbreaking for both sides, marks the end of a relationship once seen as one of the most solid in British showbiz.
Cat Seen for the First Time
Just days after the news broke, Cat was spotted in Spain — her first public appearance since the separation.
In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, the former CD:UK star appeared without her wedding ring while dining at a stylish restaurant in Sitges, near Barcelona.
She looked effortlessly chic in a halter-neck dress and gold sandals, joined by a male friend who was later identified as celebrity hairdresser Ben Skervin.
Ben, a long-time pal of Cat’s, even documented parts of the trip with his Instagram followers.
Although Cat may be smiling in public, insiders insist the split has left her deeply shaken. For Patrick, meanwhile, the revelation that Cat had “tried to love him again” but couldn’t will no doubt be a painful blow.
As one source put it, “They’ll always be connected through their children — but the marriage is over.”
