Christine McGuinness, the ex-wife of comedian Paddy McGuinness, has sent shockwaves through the public with her candid remarks about her love life and sexuality. Three years after their divorce, Christine, 38, has openly stated that she is on the hunt for a “wife”—but not in the traditional sense. In a revealing interview on the LGBTQ+ podcast It Started With A Kiss, she described her desire for a relationship rooted in celebration and love, rather than legal commitment.
“I’m looking for a wife one day, not like a legal marriage, but just a celebration of love,” Christine shared. “I’d love to be able to say, ‘This is my wife.'”
Her revelation comes after a tumultuous marriage to TV presenter Paddy McGuinness, which lasted 11 years before their separation in 2022. The couple, who share three children, continue to co-parent amicably, with Christine emphasizing that she has no interest in having more children.

Christine opened up on her sexuality, sex life and love of ‘Japanese bondage’ in a new podcast with queer icons Amy Spalding and Gareth Valentino
In her candid chat with queer icons Amy Spalding and Gareth Valentino, Christine went on to discuss her bisexuality, her evolving sex life, and her preference for “Japanese bondage” or Shibari—a form of consensual rope play that focuses on trust and vulnerability.
“I’ve learned a lot about myself,” she admitted, reflecting on her journey since her divorce. “It’s not about the sexual part for me; it’s about being vulnerable and letting go, seeing if you can trust someone to tie you up.”

She told the podcast: ‘I would love to have a wife one day, not like a legalised marriage, but like a blessing, a celebration of love and all of that, I would love to just be saying, “this is my wife.”’

Christine recalled her first kiss with a woman after leaving Paddy, saying: ‘I remember that first kiss just being so soft and so nice and so feminine’
Despite her openly exploring her sexual preferences and desires, Christine made it clear that she is not looking for anything too serious right now. She’s comfortable with her “double life”—keeping her personal and professional worlds separate and only introducing a partner to her children when the time feels right.
“I don’t want to bring anyone into my personal life too soon,” she explained, adding that her dating life has been filled with casual “situationships” and experiences, but she knows what she wants in a future partner. “I’m very self-aware now. I want someone who understands where I’m at.”
Christine’s honesty about her journey and her sexuality has sparked a range of reactions online. Some have praised her for being refreshingly open, while others have questioned whether she’s oversharing too much.
One thing is for sure: Christine McGuinness is unapologetically living life on her own terms, and she’s not afraid to share her truths with the world.
