In 2012, just before Christmas, Jeremy was diagnosed with testicular cancer after initially canceling his first doctor’s appointment. He underwent immediate surgery to remove one of his testicles the very next day. But it was the emotional moment ahead of the surgery that has stayed with him. “I was on my own when I got to the hospital,” Jeremy recalled. “I remember walking down the corridor and this huge bloke opened the door. He was an anaesthetist, and I collapsed into his arms, crying. I thought, ‘I’m dead.’”

The journey didn’t get any easier as Jeremy woke up terrified, thinking the worst. He shared how a kind nurse stayed with him throughout the night, comforting him while he anxiously awaited the results. “I thought if she left and the light went out, that would be it. I thought I was dead,” he said, still visibly emotional.

Thankfully, the doctors were able to catch the cancer before it spread, and Jeremy was later given the all-clear after undergoing chemotherapy. Reflecting on his ordeal, Jeremy admitted, “I was very lucky.”

In the interview, Jeremy also discusses the end of The Jeremy Kyle Show, which was canceled after the tragic death of Steve Dymond in 2019, just days after failing a lie detector test. Despite the controversy, Jeremy maintains that the show helped many people and remains proud of its impact, even though he acknowledges it would never be greenlit in today’s television climate.

Jeremy’s return to the screen has brought him back into the spotlight, and his story offers a rare, vulnerable glimpse into his life off-camera.
