Kelly Ripa isn’t holding back when it comes to discussing her favorite quirky topics on Live With Kelly and Mark. On Wednesday’s episode, the 53-year-old TV host addressed complaints from viewers who dislike her speaking about bras and chest size on morning television — and her response was blunt: “Don’t care if you’re offended. Shut it!”
The conversation began lightheartedly as Ripa transitioned from reminiscing about a childhood friend to enthusiastically declaring, “Bras! Bras, everyone!” She told the audience that “bras are older than you think,” clarifying, “And I don’t just mean my bra — I mean bras.”
Ripa went on to joke that her own bras are “thousands of years old” because, as she put it, “they don’t get a big workout. I’m not asking a lot of them, if you know what I’m saying. Basically, I wear my bra to hold my microphone on. That’s it — there’s nothing else there.”
She then looked straight at the audience and delivered her unfiltered remark: “I don’t care if you’re offended. Shut it! That’s why I wear a bra — just to put a microphone on. So, I don’t ask a lot.”
Mark Consuelos Joins the Banter
Co-host and husband Mark Consuelos couldn’t help but laugh, burying his head in his hands as his wife talked openly about her chest size. The camera even caught audience members lowering their heads and giggling. Consuelos chimed in with his own memories: “I used to like the ones that had the little snaps in the front.”
Ripa quickly responded, praising his skill: “He was very good at that,” prompting applause and cheers from the crowd. Consuelos then teased that his wife’s bras are “more like a tank top” than anything else.
A Brief History Lesson in Lingerie
Never missing a chance to spin humor into trivia, Ripa launched into a mini history lesson, citing research showing undergarments dating back to ancient Greece and even “breast bags” from medieval Austria.
This lighthearted exchange is far from new for the couple. Over the years, Ripa and Consuelos have often joked about her chest size on air. In July, Consuelos quipped that she needed a “toddler-sized” workout vest for support, to which Ripa turned to the audience and said, “That’s right, my audience — an audience of witnesses!”
